How much would you pay for breakfast?
Cost me £25 this morning for one breakfast (the Bondi) and two drinks (coffee and orange juice) at a 'cafe' at Paddington Central/Little Venice.
Menu below and a pic of a celeb I spotted on the next table, at what she probably thinks is a reassuringly expensive place to avoid the hoi polloi.
Nice place but wouldn't pay that sort of money again.

Where is the porridge? Otherwise my other half would mark it as a fail.

My toaster makes charcoal toast. I think it's faulty though.

I’d pay more still for privacy. Bit uncivilised taking stalker photos of your fellow customers...

It takes a 'special' kind of person to go to a public place and then insist on privacy.

It's probably just me but I dislike this 'modern' habit of printing prices without the final digit.
The place looks far too crowded for my liking but if needs must.
What on earth is "charcoal toast"?

They're as rare as rocking horse shite and priced accordingly.

Bullocks to that, fiver max. Who is the celeb? My first thought was Maureen, as implied above, but she must be about 107 these days, surely?

Anywhere that posts prices to one decimal place has to be suspect.

By privacy, I obviously don’t mean isolation. I just think it’s shabby taking covert photos of people without their permission. If you asked for her consent, I apologise in advance.
Some restaurants or other places seem to have a culture where the clientele don’t hyperventilate and drag out a smartphone every time they see someone in the public eye. That could be a local pub in Yorkshire or a 3* restaurant in Chelsea.

Re: How much would you pay for breakfast?
The lady may be in the public eye but I have no idea who she is. And to answer the question, I would never buy breakfast unless in extremis. I seldom take breakfast in hotels unless it is inclusive with the room rate. I might (reluctantly) pay up to a fiver elsewhere.

Likewise. And perhaps rather rich in years to meet the OP's description of a "celeb"?
I sometimes do indulge in a full hotel breakfast (though never in the OP's league). If I anticipate no lunch or the merest improvisation then I'll stoke up (with echoes of the days of "stoke up when you can, 'cos you never know how long you have to wait for the next meal"). Whereas if I anticipate a meal at lunchtime then breakfast out will be no more than coffee-and-croissant.

£25 is cheap.
Breakfast at the Balmoral hotel Edinburgh is £29.

Very enjoyable hotel, we spent a few days there.

Perhaps more 'National Treasure' than 'celeb' nowadays, much more talent than today's bunch of celebs - famous for being famous. Others are hinting at the ads she starred in for BT, but I remember her best from 'Agony'.

If this link works, you will see the lady herself. It was Snorvey's ology clue which did it for me, I didn't recognise her at all though she's strangely quite similar to her BT image now.

Re: How much would you pay for breakfast?
My problem was that I couldn't see anything that I wanted on that menu
