Some news from Chester Zoo

#228770

Postby AsleepInYorkshire » June 11th, 2019, 7:26 pm

Two weeks ago we enjoyed a day out at Chester Zoo. Whilst we were there one of the keepers had a hose [think fire hose] watering down the elephants. And they really loved it. Two smaller elephants were playing like a pair of dogs and chasing each other in and out of the pool in their enclosure.

I was aware as I watched that Chester has lost several young elephants to a particularly deadly virus in recent years.

So when I read today that they had managed to save a young elephant recently I smiled.

Chester Zoo elephant calf's EEHV survival 'momentous'

An Asian elephant's "rare" recovery from a "lethal" virus has been hailed as a "momentous step" for the species.

One of the two young elephants I saw playing around was this young lady and she really was a little character.
