Well, there's a fine throwback. I thought most racism today - particularly amongst brexit-tories, was against people from the more distant parts of Europe. People of Commonwealth descent being no longer the latest to arrive en masse.

2015
I will lie down in front of those bulldozers and stop the construction of that third runway

2019
I continue to have grave reservations about Heathrow runway three.

PS...good luck with your wish to keep this in the Snug!

Hmmm. Just seen Redsturgeon's post asking people to keep politics out of the Snug.

Apologies, saw that too late, although I do think sensible people should be allowed to discuss politics here, like any pub up and down the land. It's only when it gets personal and heated that people should be asked to continue the conversation in Room 101 (aka Polite Discussions). <shudder>

Long may it last.

What's the betting the Big Fight was staged?

The sympathy vote of prosecuting him being forgotten, the row with his current floozy is the next best thing. He - like Trump - knows the media will make an exaggerated fuss over it, and for exactly the same reason his own audience will tend to dismiss the story as an attack on him.

The Grauniad played right into his hands, reinforcing the average Tory's tendency to dismiss the story, and planting at least strong seeds of suspicion in a much wider Everyman audience.

I think wasting police time is rather frowned upon?

The difference is that since 2015 a democratic decision has been taken by parliament, as representatives of the people, to go ahead with the third runway, so it's a done deal. Doesn't stop him having reservations though.

Mrs Bnc is set on Boris. I'd also like him to win, I think the UK could do with a personality in charge. But just to be on the safe side I've staked £20 at 4/1 on the other contestant. Unfortunately, the bookies wouldn't accept an each way bet!

Why? It's not in quite such a desperate state as Germany in 1933.

Not yet, anyway.

Not quite a fair comparison. The little German guy had prepared a detailed plan of action, nine years before he eventually got his shot at power. And published it too. :|

Austrian, of course. I wonder if the American is planning his own Anschluss - that would be interesting.

That would make the wall a bit redundant. Or do you mean Canada? Or the UK?

The Austrian annexed the land of his birth. Johnson was born in the US and is a citizen*, so would presumably attempt to annexe that.

Didn't he renounce his US citizenship a while back?

These people who let the facts get in the way - wouldn't work for Mr Johnson. ( I didn't know this had happened ) .
