A simple guide , to compare body age to chronological age , is to divide your waist measurement by your upper thigh measurement , then subtract 1 and multiply by 100. This gives your body age.

The theory is that the more inches round the waist and fewer round the thigh puts more strain on the heart.

You've just cheered me up. According to this calc, I'm eight years younger than my mother would have attested.

OTOH, the calc does reward people with fat thighs. Add a couple of inches to your thigh measurement and just watch the body years peeling off you. ;)

Phooey! 34 around the waist, 18 around the upper thigh makes me 88! I need to do less exercise! OTOH my BMI is 22.

34 & 22 makes me 54. Which I am, in three weeks

BMI =24

marronier's calculation makes me 12 younger than I am, and I do not have a particularly small waist! I am though fairly fit I think.

Ooh I love this calculation, I'm 33 again which is fine because I still know as much as I did at three score years and ten plus plus. Can't be bad!!

I liked it the first time around. As I started with the thigh measurement in error! After last night, I'm much older.

Ah well, despite riding 40 to 50 miles, four times a week at 15 to 17 mph and going to gym two or three times a week (now interupted by a health issue) my calculated age is 82 whilst I am actually 66.

No-one would consider me particularly overweight although I do admit I could lose a few kg.

Naturally, I say the calculation is irrevocably flawed :lol:

A lot of research shows the gut as being the key driver of future good/Bad health. And I mean the whole body system. Foods like natural yogurt, ginger root, almonds etc are great for gut bacteria. Nothing wrong with a touch of whiskey most nights too.

Treat the gut well, a bit of exercise (should be a type you enjoy), and not much more we can do.

Common or garden Bells! My choice would be Ardbeg.
