Seinfeld - always good, often brilliant. Have been binge-watching on Prime
Loved 'Married with Children' when it was on UK TV - seemed to be subversive compared with the awful 'morality tale' bland US sitcoms
What about the animated stuff? Simpsons and Family Guy
Stand-ups? Bill Hicks, Jerry Sadowitz (OK he's a bit Scottish too)?

Ha. You have a similar (some would say dark or warped) sense of humour to me AC.

Surprised to haven't chucked 'Curb' in there with Larry David?

Be careful what you wish for, here is a slice of Big Bang without the laughter track...weird.

That's horrible.

Like when you tell a joke that you think is really funny but it falls completely flat and the tumbleweed rolls past. Stuff of nightmares.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is up near the top of my list. It's one of those shows where the central character is so awful or socially inept that you cringe your way through, almost peeking through your fingers at the television in horror at the anticipation of what he's going to do next. There's several shows like this but this one does it the best. I recorded the last series on Sky but found myself putting off watching it in a kind of 'saving this for best' / 'it's too brilliant/awful to watch now' kind of way. It's a love/hate relationship I guess. :?

Talking of Jerry Seinfeld, I watched the first few episodes of Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee last night on Netflix. Found myself laughing out loud at times. Good stuff, no laughter track, and the bonus of only being about 15 minutes long.

I have heard it's really good, and an obvious choice for a Seinfeld fan - but it's not (as far as I know) on Amazon prime yet !!
(Yes, I have no TV/Netflix/cable/satellite/whatever. Luddite)

Seems to be available here but I don't know enough about Amazon Prime to know whether subscribers get it for free: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Curb-Your-Enth ... B00G137VTI

Well the Germans love this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVd_VLO9xcc and are often amazed that we Brits don't know it.

Oh, I've heard about this from Germans but never seen it before - it's actually funnier than I expected. Especially with the introduction where he has to spell out for the viewers, auf Deutsch, the fact that Miss Sophie's friends are all dead...

Oh, Branmin <sigh>. First of all, you've incorrectly included multiple shows such as To The Manor Born, As Time Goes By and Keeping Up Appearances, in a list of comedies. Next you'll be claiming Last of the Summer Wine was one as well.

Second of all, since when was Dave Allen British?

Very funny but I'm a little confused as to which hormone-based scare to believe - I thought we were all supposedly imperilled by industrial quantities of soy in our food and waterborne contraceptives taking away our manhood? I used to be called Laddy Gagarin, you know.

I don’t think anyone said he was. Branmin appeared to be praising The Dave Allen Show (a British Broadcasting Corporation production). ;)

Edit: ... and his Mother was English.

You are obviously far too young, LadyG.

A mythical wartime RAF station, with Kenneth Horne as the CO, Richard Murdoch as the Adjutant and Sam Costa as the Station WO. "Good morning, Costa, and how are Emilie's twinges?". Precursor of Round the Horne, which you might remember.

The real RAF Station, Moreton in Marsh, contributed nothing except part of the name. I was nearby at RAF Pershore, flying Oxfords, in 1952.

Never heard that, but the expression "a bit of a bind" for some task or regulation was well used.
