I'm guessing we're not the only ones who don't immediately recognise him, given that's it's still for sale.

Any clues?

Clue 1.... definitely post-Spartacus era
Clue 2.... Perhaps a bit pre-HYD
Clue 3.... He had a borrowed bike
Clue 4.... He had a homeless old mouse

There. Obvious isn't it

Aha.

Had to google it and presumed it was a singer or actor from the 60s.

Ashamed to say I couldn't name a single song of Pink Floyd's other than Brick in the Wall.

Given that there are some huge Pink Floyd fans on here who also didn't recognise him, plus the fact that I wouldn't know any of the members of Pink Floyd if they stopped me in the street and introduced themselves, I won't feel too bad about googling him. :)

Do people here recognise him now they know the answer or is not a particularly good likeness?

Re. my post at 12.46pm, I didn't use Google and recognised him straight away. It's a decent likeness, notwithstanding I've never seen him personally, he didn't look like that for long and soon became reclusive and withdrawn once 'famous', and is like any pictures I've seen over very many years.

The interesting part surely is - did he sit for your local artist, or is the sketch simply based on some other image? I suspect the price suggests the latter.

I also wondered why an artist in the Glasgow area would produce a picture of Syd Barrett. I'm not aware that he had any scottish connections, and he's not really well-known except among aged Pink Floyd geeks.

The exhibition finishes on monday, be interesting to see if it is sold. Next to the picture, there's a painting of The Big Yin and that has been sold. Surprise, surprise!
