Braun S5 - mine too replaced an older Model. It's wet and dry (albeit I don't use wet).

I've had a Philips rechargeable waterproof shaver for many years, and would buy another tomorrow.

If face, I'm interested in the answer too.

After 30 odd years of wet shaving with a Gillette 2, I bought a Philips rechargeable last year (wet and dry type) and have been very disappointed. I find the only way to get completely stubble free is to wet shave with the Gillette, rinse my face but leave wet, then use the Philips to remove any remaining beard. It takes twice as long, but gives a much better result than either the Gillette or Philips alone.

I haven't actually electric shaved for decades. I could never get a close enough one (the ladies always complained that the stuble chaffed their thighs.)

However, being the tight-wad that Iam, I use these and get a consistently 'good' shave and no complaints.

Crikey, 18 years for an electric shaver? Some kind of record. I discovered electric shavers relatively late in life (early 30s) and have never stopped kicking myself for not using them earlier. I'm using a Braun at the moment but, like the others I can recommend the Phillips brand and have to admit that there is an advantage in having three rotary cutters rather than the two I have with the Braun. The cutters are also easy to re-sharpen, as I discovered via a Youtube video. Phillips have come a long way with their Quality Control and twenty five years ago I avoided the brand like the plague. The brand I avoid these days is Remington. I once bought a nice shaver only to have it fall apart almost every day. A quick look on Amazon and it appeared this model was always falling apart and had been for years, but Remington was still selling them.

Remington mains powered rotary PR1330.
I have an older model and the blades seem to retain their sharpness forever.

Only my face chaps, I also use aldi/lidl throw aways, I have changed foil and blade on the Braun a few times, but as beard and me have become more grizzled I am finding it misses more and more and has to be finished with a wet shave which rather defeats the object. Odd missed tufts are not a sexy look, I am looking away, but it does not get a thumbs up from my wife

We have two Philips shavers, both 3 head. A PT860 (with H08 cutterheads) and a more expensive S9711 (SH90 heads).
The Series 9000 definitely cuts a little closer.
Both have rapid 1 hour charging, and are waterproof. The cheaper models are slow charging. The charge lasts several weeks.
Interestingly (?) these are actually made in Netherlands, not in far east.

I had a Remington (which is Braun) foil shaver, and not very effective.

As a slightly left field suggestion I’d suggest this usb rechargeable shaver which means you never have to go hunting for a shaver socket when you travel.

Tried them all..cannot get close enough. Surprised that nobody has mentioned the Gillette Proglide. Gives you the same feel as an electric shaver but much cheaper. Pros, Very close shave. Cons. Need to change blades at least once a month. Now for other lower down parts the Philips Norelco BG7040 is the business and then use a fresh dollop of "Fresh balls" from Amazon.(The hands that do dishes are as soft as your....? remember that ad?) Pros, works like a good lawn mower, cons, better wear some glasses if the eyes are bad, or you could lose something. Far too much information.

I have usually had Philips but find the replacement heads are now very expensive.
There seems to be lot of poor copy blades about. My latest Sensotouch also cracked by the switch just after the guarantee was up! I don't use it wet so not too concerned.
Interested in the idea of resharpening but may replace it with a Braun although it is 30 years since I used a foil shaver.
Recommend you look at price of replacement blades when considering a shaver.

Whilst Philips Oneblade is marketed at men with facial hair styles - it can be used to provide a clean shave. Personally after years with a variety of Brauns, I find Oneblade far superior. Also, it is very kind to sensitive neck areas.

The problem with a blade shave (which I much prefer) is that the dozy half hour between wake-up and breakfast is really not a good time to be facing death or mutilation by cold steel. That being the case, I'd rather take my chances with a single blade (basic throwaway bic) than with anything that looks as though it might remove my nose in five separate slices.

I have a proper Desperate Dan beard, which several electric shavers have dramatically failed to cope with. Personally, I blame my ancestors, who included at least five generations of burly blacksmiths, and who would have refused to have anything to do with a razor that hadn't been hand forged from an old bayonet and sharpened with a piece of the Crimea, or maybe a Saracen's cranium. A single blade it is, then.

One of the few consolations of later middle age, meanwhile, is that nobody expects a beard to be as soft as Justin Bieber's - and it's probably none the worse for that. It's been a very long time since anybody inspected my lower torso for any signs of artistic topiary, and since I have no aspirations (a) to be a porn star or (b) to wear a bikini, I'll settle for leaving things the way nature intended.
