errr... no. Id have no idea, hence my query.

It just struck me that the blind probably would get a badge. But by definition wont be driving themselves to a store, and if otherwise perfectly physically capable wouldn't need a close by parking space as

* they'll have a sighted person with them, and/or
* a seeing eye dog trained to handle traffic situations (as they would do in the street normally etc).

So would have no need for a disabled parking spot really.

I'm deaf in one ear and was told I wouldn't get one (I'd have declined it anyway ).. But it strikes me that a fully deaf person would not be able to hear approaching traffic, but will very possibly be on their own (are deaf people allowed to drive ? I dunno!) so may be exposed to some danger if crossing a carpark.

Just two scenarios I pondered whilst reading the above. Note I'm not actually saying one demographic should or should not have a badge. just I can see reasons why one may not require one and another would.

In that the normal interactions with traffic etc would be handled by the carer/dog and there are no other pgysical constraits to access to the store.

From the same site The deaf do not receive a badge unless they can show/demonstrate they are at significant risk because of their condition. I supopose that's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question

Disabled bays are too often allotted to overweight people who'd rather not burn any precious calories walking too far to the shop, when they really could do with any exercise.

You can't imagine a situation where someone with severe disabilities in both arms can safely drive a specially adapted car but not be able to use an unadapted parking machine?

Many decades ago my father was paralysed so that he could not use his arms at all but had a car specially adapted so he could steer with his foot rotating a plate on the floor. He was legally licenced to drive this. so yes it is quite possible.

Eurghhhh, I wish you hadn't said that. But yes, there he is, deep into schmaltz territory with some woman who says she likes a bit of leg.

Turkeys indeed. And what's in those M&S mince pies? Yep, the sound track nails it with precision. Albatross.

Seriously, it's a properly horrible advert. Not quite as gut-curdling as John Lewis's Elton John effort, I'll grant you, but still a reliable sign to investors. M&S has lost the plot completely. I expect their parking spaces are all right, though.

Although I'd heard of McGuinness via Top Gear I had (adopting Millennialspeak!) like literally never heard of Emma Willis.

Having Googled her it's not surprising, as I don't think I've watched a single programme in which she's appeared. A case of ignorance certainly being bliss
