Storm Brendan has hit the west coast of Ireland, with forecaster Met Éireann warning of "several hours of very dangerous weather".

A Met Office yellow warning for Northern Ireland is in place from 10:00 GMT to midnight, with the storm due to make landfall early afternoon.

Gusts of 75mph (120km/h) are expected on exposed coasts and hills.

Already this morning, gusts of up to 60mph have been reported in Belmullet, County Mayo in the Republic of Ireland.

The Met Office has warned that travel disruption is likely and coastal areas may be affected by large waves.

One hour to go before the big stuff lands on us, and it's getting interesting down here in the softy south west. Our neighbours have got the roofers out this morning, trying desperately to get the tiling finished on their very expensive new triple-sized outbuilding, before the wind gets under the felting and rips the whole caboodle away into the distance, roof trusses and all. I don't think the roofers are very happy about it. Looks a bit draughty up there.

BTW, that windy website is pretty cool. Wow, the colours, man. Early Pink Floyd, I think? (Check out the Waves tab.)

Quite a wind and very wet here in North Wales. We've been to a funeral so of course for this the weather was perfect.

I spent today motoring from Cornwall (1130) to Kent (2200). Lots of stops along the way. It was gusty the whole way but the majority of debris on the roads was in Sussex (mainly small branches). It's true though that the A30/A303/M3 stretches would not have been a fair comparison as the trees are mainly away from the race track.
