Hey, you would never ask for "A pint of beer", so why "a double scotch"? Be specific......Talisker, Ardbeg, The Glenlivet. Highland Park.......?
Pah.....amateur drinker

Most Scotch is filthy muck - I'd rather have a Suntory or Jameson (puts on tin helmet, ducks below sandbags..)
OK a Highland Park or The Macallan if pushed..

The distinction there is between well drinks and call drinks. If the customer does not "call" a brand then the pub or bar will just serve the cheapest one, AKA the "house pour" or "well" drink. The fancier bars might ask but many do not.
It depends how picky you are. I rarely drink whisky and know nothing about it, so I probably would not specify a brand. Whereas I am fussy about my beers and so always order by name i.e. "call" the brand.
Wine is different again as I would not order a brand of wine but also would not just ask for a glass of wine. I would order a type e.g. pinot noir or pinot grigio for instance.

I realise you are a fast drinker but I'd stick with your order. The cheaper the better for the chaser, after five pints in an hour, together with whatever you had since opening time.
If it were me, I'd leave the double on the table.

The double's for the walk home ..it's almost 15 minutes (sometimes longer if I get lost)

Do you take the pub's glass home or do you transfer the contents into a flask?

well of course in the brief re-opening period last orders was not at 2200. 2200 was doors shut, empty pub.
I totally agree on the dark star As for an hour drink up time... well that's presumably based around a meal being delivered to table at 2159...
do the people who dream this stuff uip ever actualy GO to a pub ? Especially wet-led pubs?

I've noticed the walk to a pub is often much quicker than the walk back; significantly so in fact.
I'd say the difference is staggering,

It may take longer, but it's so much less effort , due to the 'beer scooter' effect where one 'awakens' at home without the vaguest memory of the journey

Pub?
Oh yes, I faintly remember those. Back in the Good Old Days you could get a pint, and sometimes a jolly nice meal, in congenial surroundings.

Pretty sure I heard in passing that wet-led pubs were having to remain closed after 2nd dec. Alcohol is only allowed to be served in pubs along with a "substantial meal". So wouldn't that the last order would have to be "Five pints of Dark Star and a substantial meal, please"?
Or maybe that only applies in one of the tiers, to be determined closer to the time. I wasn't really listening properly.

That's my understanding Mike.
hence my query.

Assuming this virtual pub is and remains in Tier 1 England, the rules applying from 2 December 2020 are:
Tier 1: Medium alert
In tier 1: ...
hospitality businesses selling food or drink for consumption on their premises are required to:
provide table service only, for premises that serve alcohol ...
From https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know#medium-alert
Substantial meals etc apply to Tier 2 and takeaway, click-and-collect, drive-through or delivery services only in Tier 3.

After playing in Perth, and (presumably) suitably imbibing, Niel Gow was reminded of the length of his walk back home to Dunkeld - and he remarked that it wasn't the length of the road that he minded, but its breadth bothered him.
