Good story in the Sunday Times about plans under consideration to connect Scotland, N.Ireland, England and the Isle of Man by undersea tunnels. There'll be 4 tunnels, with a big underground roundabout underneath the Isle of Man. Starting points will be Stranraer, Heysham and Liverpool, and an unnamed spot in Northern Ireland. All in all, it looks like there'll be about 200 miles of tunnels under the Irish Sea. This 4-tunnel solution avoids the problem of World War 2 munitions being in the way of a 40 mile tunnel between Stranraer and Northern Ireland.
According to a Whitehall official "people think this is all a joke, but it's much more likely to get to go-ahead than people think".

As a mentioned on a previous thread this is a simple smoke screen put up by Boris and co to deflect from the mess they have left Northern Ireland in post Brexit. It should be seen in that light.

Another thread that would have been best on the Polite Discussions board, I'm afraid. As that option is no longer available, I think the best thing to do is to lock the thread to avoid it delving any deeper into Polite Discussions territory - Itsallaguess
