I just got my second covid jab. I mentioned to the jabber that it must get monotonous sticking needles in people all day. She replied that she livens things up by imagining we're all voodoo dolls and she's sticking needles in us to inflict pain on Trump, Corbyn, Boris or anyone else she doesn't like.
I made sure I was especially nice to her.

Re: Voodoo
Is she living in the past? Trump and Corbyn are both history (shame about the third one).
Surely it's neither more nor less tedious than any repetitive job - like checkout staff, for instance. Calls for a personality that can deal with perpetual smalltalk. Not quite as soul-destroying as the assembly line of Chaplin's Modern Times, or of my factory holiday job in my teens.
Hope you're now host to a good voodoo potion of protection!

Re: Voodoo
A lady of my acquaintance said that her vaccinator had taken care to go in through the exact centre of the tattoo on her upper arm.
It's a good job it was just a geometric mandala. Imagine if it had been a dartboard?

Reminds me of the day my ex called to me up the stairs "Can you feel a sharp pain, as if someone is sticking a pin into a voodoo doll?"
I called back down "No, nothing. Why do you ask?"
After a short pause called called back... "How about now?"

Re: Voodoo
I worked at the Sheraton Hotel in Benin where the Voodoo religion is part of everyday life. In order to ensure that it would not rain on Christmas Day during the children's poolside party we called in a Voodoo priest to perform a ceremony. Santa duly arrived (by helicopter) without a cloud inthe sky. It poured Boxing Day though.
