For those of us still imprisoned in a world of work it's possibly a day off.

For the rest of you may I remind you that it will rain today

I don't mind the rain one little bit, it means I won't have to water the garden :D It also means I can stay indoors and not have to tackle the dreaded weeding.

The dog has no concept of "stay in 'cos it's raining".

Which it is. And blustery. And it's time to take the dog out.

And the slugs will be out in force tonight after the first bit of rain in a while...

Nice out there. Blustery wind, but not too much rain, mostly in brief squalls.

Lovely colours. A copper beech set amidst many hues of green looks not half so good in bright sunshine. Though going out at dusk in this season does (also) bring the most gorgeous colours.

The forecast in this part of the world was rain from 11:00 onwards. So between 10:00 and 10:59 we took puppy for a walk in the grounds of Eastnor Castle. For a practise run, it started to get going at about 10:45 and almost on cue it rained steadily until mid-afternoon when for a few minutes the rain eased off before resuming until about 19:45 when in an almost clear sky before sunset we had a rainbow.

60 to 70mph wind out here in West Wilts yesterday. (We're on high-ish ground with a clear view across Salisbury Plain in one direction and the start of the Mendips in another, so absolutely everything hits us.) A line of freshly leafed-up horse chestnuts has been quite badly shredded. I suppose they'll repair themselves

The rain let up intermittently, but the wind didn't - at times it had the howl of a hurricane, which was a bit unsettling. Three nearby rooks' nests were blown right out of the trees, which must have been bad news for the nestlings. :|
Although the peace and quiet now that they've gone is noticeable, and welcome.

This morning's task will be to clear up the breakages in the garden, and to see what's been damaged out in the fields. Still, look on the bright side. At least we weren't camping. Unlike some.

The M3 heading back towards London was packed yesterday at 2pm. I guess all the people coming back from the South Coast decided there was no point staying past midday.
