Be sure to recycle your water. A great option, particularly for those in shared accommodation, is to collect it in a beer bottle and store it in the fridge.

Ah what a great student jape that was - recycle your water into an empty beer bottle and pass it on to the drunkenest student you could find.

Just think - if we could harvest the tears of United fans over the next 24-hours, I suspect our water shortage would be over quite quickly...

This was supposed to be a joke, not a prophecy...

Ha! Briefly, I once worked in a place where someone was swiping other peoples' stuff from the fridge. It was cured by a very mustardy sandwich, and a bottle of....

Bit severe, but I like it

I do like to write "i lick my knife" on the surface of my butter in a nice copperplate style using the top of a knife
- has the benefit of letting you know if someone has chanced it

Not so great if you find they've added 'Me too' the next day though!

On the subject of water shortages (where this thread started) I appreciate that one swallow does not make a summer nor one thunderstorm solve a drought. It is a long time since we have had any thunder or lightning but at around 3 am we had a violent storm accompanied by heavy rain with a lot more rain forecast for the next 36 hours or so. Shame because I was beginning to enjoy the Mediterranean weather.

Plenty might be an exaggeration, but Indeed they do feature in the Med. summer and with much heavier rain than we get in Blighty.

But the hot sunny weather there lasts much, much longer before a storm breaks than the few days of heatwave we've now had twice this summer. The comparison works a little better if you include our prolonged spell of dry, sunny but (until last week) not unusually hot weather, though even that falls short.
