Amusing message from Vodafone.

After what must be decades with a PAYG vodafone, I've just received this via SMS and email:

Hello,
Just to confirm, we've now blocked access to adult content on the mobile number ending ******
What does this mean?
Anyone using this number should no longer be able to access adult content.
Just to note, we can only block content when the number is connected to our network.
How can I remove it?
If you want to switch this restriction off, just click here for step-by-step instructions.
Thank you,
The Customer Care team
We've sent this email to you automatically, so unfortunately you can't reply to it directly.

Assuming that adult content means what I think it means, i.e. the sort of stuff that would make Tim Brooke-Taylor RIP 'very cross indeed', then why restrict it now and why only over their network? I guess it's okay over WiFi?

Also, who would ever want to look at porn on their tiny mobile phones anyway?

Steve

PS Fortunately it should not affect me personally. As an enthusisatic ornithologist, I will continue my research into the Tit family, continue collecting door knockers and growing large melons in the garden. 8-)

"Neil Parish – Conservative

The Tiverton and Honinton MP says he accidentally watched pornography on his phone while browsing for tractors, before doing so again, this time deliberately, in the Commons chamber. He resigned and his seat was taken by the Lib Dems.

Somebody with tiny fingers, I suppose? But with surprisingly good eyesight, considering what they're up to?

Received an amusing message from Vodafone today! Their witty communication adds a spark to the day and shows they're more than just a telecom provider. It's refreshing to see companies inject humor into their messaging, creating a positive and memorable experience for customers. Kudos, Vodafone!

Dear Vodafone,

If you are going to use AI to spam forums to try and promote your products, you may find it more productive to do it in a manner that makes people more likely to use them rather than less likely.

And try to avoid Colonial spelling on UK fora.

Regards.

Dear Vodafone,

Most unlikely that the bot you're addressing has anything to do with vodafone. Its cue was just the thread title.

I expect you knew that and were just indulging in a little humour. But would that be obvious to every prospective reader? Especially a non-Brit, bearing in mind how poorly humour travels.

Any poster who says he "received an amusing message from Vodafone today" [exclamation mark, pause for canned laughter] and who thinks that "their witty communication adds a spark to the day and shows they're more than just a telecom provider" ought to be strung up by his heels until he comes up with (a) the amusing message itself or at least (b) a link to show us where we can find it. Can't he read the Fool guidelines? Stupid question. Sigh....

So, nothing to feed our minds, nothing to tempt our appetites. Nothing but empty calories, in fact. If this is the future of AI, I've had enough of it already. :|

And incidentally, I just googled nicolas23 to see how many of him there are. 133,000 results, and I stopped counting the different nicolas23 IDs at 50. Everything from pop to comic art to technology and soft porn. Versatile chap. :D
