Second Trident missile failure!

I assume that it didn't contain a real bomb? Maybe just a balloon that goes pop?

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/trident-missi ... 00625.html

It caught my eye only because I remembered that Trident was the subject of one of the 'Yes Prime Minster' episodes, which Wikipedia says ran 1986-88.

Nearly 40 years ago, and they still haven't figured out how to 'make it go'?

Maybe we should send this dud back to Lockheed Martin for a refund? ;)

I think that next time they are going to put some little blue tablets in the fuel to see if that helps get it up :)

At £17m each it's probably the reason we can only afford one every 8 years. Better luck in 2032 eh! I did think that we could put the missiles on an aircraft carrier but they never leave port ;)

If the report that it just 'plopped' back into the sea after launch are correct, then I wonder if its 'gravity' switch failed? Or the motor failed to ignite for some other reason.
