You mean they forgot to give you the 'urgent' physiotherapy appointment for two months time?

Funny you should ask, actually. I didn't want to steal Snorvey's show, but yes, I was in for three years of physio. The reason I'd lost all my muscle tone was that the bone had been set slightly wrong.

Might have been connected to the fact that the plasterer who did the job was due to retire that week, and his breath had smelt of something mysterious which I later came to know as whisky.

So to this day I can't ski or skate, because my feet don't point in quite the same direction. Hasn't ruined my life.

Perseverance on Mars has now sent back a high definition 360 degrees panoramic photograph. In the viewer on the link you can pan and zoom in on any feature

I recall a variety show on Cromer pier. There was a "Mastermind" act where the host answered a series of questions (I don't remember if he was in a big black chair). One question was, "what type of vehicle takes you back in time?" The answer was, "The bus, to Sheringham".

Very apt, as it's a Doctor Who quote (The Brigadier, having been transported to a barren anti-matter world)

But why the bundle of dynamite? Was it in case of being captured by little green men?

This is getting a bit spooky. First of all you identify my trip to Caernarfon 'international' Airport, then I was working here last week. Didn't see Perseverance. Didn't see much at all in the way of signs of life tbh .

That takes me back many years when I started with the GPO and learned to form distribution frame cabling with waxed twine. They were works of art compared to plastic cable ties or velcro. I still get a thrill when I visit the Bletchley Museum and see that 'Colossus' was made from components that were recognisable to me (Tommy Flowers being a GPO employee). I wonder why they don't use cable ties in space ? Sometimes the old ways are the best.

They do. Even on Perseverance. https://tiremeetsroad.com/2021/02/23/do ... able-ties/

Special UV resistant ones though.

They are using a different definition of "controlled" than I am used to: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-devon-56257366

Agreed. When I saw the damage the "controlled" explosion caused, I assumed it was not planned to happen!

I recall controlled explosions using dampening materials, special blankets, designed to absorb the blast energy. In this case it appears they buried/surrounded it with 400 tonnes of sand and put some sort of metal structure on top - which appears to have been converted to shrapnel, along with a fair amount of the sand.

I'd hate to think what it would have done if just detonated without any shielding, but I wonder if there will be an inquiry (even if just within the MOD) as to what went wrong (or less right...)
