Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
Our village photographic society consists predominantly of septuagenarian Nikon nuts who tend to assemble every month at the local garden centre for a gentle cup of tea and a fierce argument about filters and focal lengths and the limitations of Ilford's black and white film. So when they staged an exhibition of their work recently, it was just a little mind-boggling to see the quality of it. An 87 year old who I know very well was exhibiting a photo which had recently won him a gold for best picture from a south west England amateur - a very buzzy pic of the Clifton suspension bridge, for which he'd had to do some extremely complex things with a stopwatch and a zoom lens. (Don't ask, cos I wouldn't understand enough to explain it to you...)
Innocently, I asked the assembled wrinklies whether they ever Photoshopped their pictures - a topic that normally drives my nephew, a hardcore professional landscape photographer, to apoplexy - and they practically spilt their tea, they were laughing so much. It turned out that there wasn't a snapper in the room who didn't reckon to spend at least a couple of days digitally improving every picture before they exhibited it. Not enough waves on that lake? Wish the sky over the Eiffel Tower was yellowish instead of blue? Fat Auntie Ethel getting in the way of that cutie on the sun lounger? Adobe is your friend, it seems.
I am slightly sadder, but wiser. Nice pictures, though.

How could you be this close to one of the most incredible natural phenomenon and not stop what you are doing to watch?

I took this at Chichen Itza in Mexico last week. Apparently voted one of the new 7 wonders of the world. My daughter thought it looked like a postcard, so I thought I'd share it here.

I'm sure I read somewhere on LF how it's done but I can't find it, so how do you include a photo in a post?

Thanks. I've uploaded the picture to Flickr, and I can copy and paste the link, but although I apologise for my denseness I don't understand what you mean by `triple tap on the link to highlight the link and then click the 'Img' button '.
When I've pasted the link I've tried highlighting the link and then clicking `Img' which puts the tags at either end, but it just shows as a little square with the top corner folded over and the word `Image' next to it - hopefully it will reproduce if I post it:

A timely piece in the Guardian yesterday, showing pictures of life inside the many 'Coffin Cubicles' that tens of thousands of the poorest Hong Kong residents have to live in, given the housing crisis they've got to cope with -

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
Many thanks for your patience Snorvey, I've finally managed it.
The only reason I wanted to do it was to post a picture I took in Menton in March from our Airbnb apartment. Quite a view to wake up to

Flickr seem to have changed something as I can't upload images to Flickr , from my android phone (unless there a hidden menu somewhere) .
What used to be simple , now involves emailing the image on the phone to myself and then going on the laptop to upload it to Flickr .

That is 90% of what I use Dropbox for.
I have it set to automatically transfer pictures taken on my phone, when connected over wifi, then when I turn my laptop on and connect to the internet it automatically puts them into "\Dropbox\Camera Uploads".
Means I don't have to remember to do it and I can clear things off my phone, if I want to for any reason.

Used to have Dropbox but stopped when they demanded money for extra storage.
My phone automatically backs up to Google's cloud so don't really need more backup (touch wood).
I only use Flickr for the occasional image , usually to post on certain nostalgic message boards that have size limits . I believe that yahoo now own Flickr so it's bound to get messed up !

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
I think this is how I did it:-
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/flickr/sln15714.html
follow instructions there
i.e.
Getting the photo URL
You can get the URL of your own images on Flickr.
Click on the photo you want to share to open it.
Click the Download icon Downward arrow.
Click View all sizes.
Select the size of photo you want.
Right-click the image | select Copy image URL.
Then in your post, put the cursor at the position you want to put your picture and click on the Img button (above the text box - 9th from left). Paste your URL between the tags

Yep, seems to work except it was 'copy image location'
My homage to a famous photo which sold for $4.3 million a few years back.

Can't see what the fuss was all about I prefer mine - at least it's got a boat in it.

I like Windermere (and the Lakes in general). It's a bit like home but a bit warmer and no midges.
Loch Sunart a couple of weeks ago. And no midges either.
