Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
Looks lovely - I don't know it, so looked it up
I've been through Kiddy loads of times on the way home but that's off my route a bit - I have the delights of the rocket factory on the way in, but there's a nice 'heathland' sort of nature reserve on the way to Bewdley, before the safari park
[edit: the second photo reminds me of some late David Hockney works]

NASA photo of Hurricane Florence, currently heading for the US East Coast -
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam ... ZMqrk.jpeg
More than a million people in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia have been told to leave their homes.
It's the most powerful storm to threaten the Carolinas in almost 30 years, and is being described by weather forecasters as a "monster".
The National Hurricane Center says the storm is gathering power as it moves towards land, and "is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane" by Thursday.
Florence is currently being measured as a Category Four storm, this means there are sustained winds of about 140mph.
But it's forecast to strengthen to near the level of a Category 5 storm - which has sustained winds of 157 mph or more.

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
For various reasons I keep finding myself taking photos of aeroplanes flying past. It is often a bit hit and miss but one feature of some (probably most) smart phones is that if you press and hold the "shutter" button instead of just dabbing it then the phone takes a whole series of photos in quick succession allowing you later to pick out the one with the aeroplane(s) in the middle.melonfool wrote:Thank you - I'd had quite a bit of practice by the time they came over, pointing the camera at the exact right gap in the trees. It was nice to take on my new phone too

Kinetic Sculpture by Anthony Howe -
Anthony Howe is an American kinetic sculptor who creates wind-driven sculptures resembling pulsing, alien creatures and vortices.
He makes use of computer-aided design, shaping the metal components with a plasma cutter, and completing his work by use of traditional metalworking techniques.

Woah! That's amazing! ... How someone came to imagine and realise that project... Fractal art in 3-D.
Thanks for sharing.

And strangely, for anyone who wears reading glasses to view their PC screen, if you take them off nothing looks like its moving either!

Perhaps you need to have a focused focus on it to see it as moving, as I tested your simple suggestion and found it to be true. Yet I scroll up, and 'the weird visuals' just keep grining on....

I could see the images moving, then I took my glasses off and it stopped. The strange thing is even with my glasses back on the image won't move.

You're welcome...
For those that haven't seen anything 'moving' yet, I found that moving my focus clockwise or anti-clockwise around the four corners of the image produced the most consistent 'movement'.

Re: The Lemonfool my pic of the day thread
Moving your gaze around the image seems to make more appear to happen. Ie the less I move my eyes the less motion I seem to see. Whether sweeping in circles around the image or imagining a horizontal line across the middle of the graphic and simply 'sweeping' my gaze from one side to the other, over and over.
