The article headline would assist in such searches.

It would appear to be:

Carillion faces crunch week as woes mount

UK group, which is fighting for survival, is in talks to sell some overseas arms ...

It wasn't very encouraging, was it?

No, it wasn't. Actually, CLLN has become one of my very worst disasters, but the effect on my portfolio has already been felt so very little downside exists now. A complete write-off would not be life changing, and while there's life in the old dog, there's hope.

I survived RBS, which was a similar fall, and I've no doubt there will be more disasters at some time.

Just seen this takeover gossip - https://www.ft.com/content/9ae4f907-a29 ... 9?mhq5j=e5 shares up 18% as I type...

Cheers, OLTB.

For FT stuff it's better to just quote the headline. In this case it's
Carillion shares jump on takeover speculation

A Google search for that headline then brings up the FT article. The direct link just directs non-subscribers to a "subscribe for access" page.

If the takeover goes ahead, it could be a nice little profit for anyone prepared to risk buying in the past few months and a loss presumably for the shorters, unless they got out in time. That might even account for the price jump.

And a massive loss for long term holders.

I’ve reached a point now I just want to recoup as much value as I can but will let the market decide that. In that respect this is good news (if it transpires) and should close down more of the short positions also.

From my HYP perspective CLLN is expected to contribute no income next year and currently accounts for just over 1% of capital value. I’ve earmarked for disposal when/if overall running income achieves its target next year (expected Q3 or Q4).

I'm just hoping this ex-puttycat gets a bit higher off the pavement, so I can unload without feeling quite so depressed about it

I can read the direct link without problem, and I'm not a subscriber. I am however registered (free) for the FT. This gives access to a limited number of articles each month, sufficient to follow the links given here. So I for one appreciate FT links being posted, but it should be accompanied by the headline for those that prefer the Google method.

Suddenly we have all these potential buyers?

I was lead to believe that a rights issue could not go ahead if the SP was below 50p. Lo-and-behold we have potential buyers and the sp is now well above 50p, just a day or so before the update.

So, looks like the new boss is starting on the 22nd Jan now, rather than waiting until April.

Wonder what this news will bring to the party!

Cheers, OLTB.
