MKS Might Exit FTSE 100 June 5th

Hi All,

Seems that its getting pretty close to the exit position according to this site

http://www.stockchallenge.co.uk/ftse.php

And the same issue has been reported in the press elsewhere I note. Rights issue timing probably isnt going to help to keep the share price up ATM ?.

Obviously were it drop out this would likely cause further selling as the FTSE 100 tracker funds exit.

It seems EasyJet may suffer this fate rather than M&S.

Hi Maraman, indeed that’s what this website is predicting anyway

http://www.stockchallenge.co.uk/ftse.php

I also see that FCIT looks to be position for automatic entry, be good to have another IT in the FTSE !.

FCIT is in position 109. To be an automatic entry it would have to be 90 or higher.
Perhaps you confused 'entry' with 'exit'? :?

From the previous link, two FTSE 250 stocks are in automatic automatic entry into the FTSE 100 at the moment (position 90 or higher)
- JD. - JD Sports at position 70
- AVV - Aveva Group at position 73

Therefore, two must be ejected from the FTSE 100, and these are the lowest two FTSE100 stocks, whether or not they are in automatic exit position (position 111 or below)

The lowest two are
- EZY - Easyjet (113)
- MKS - Marks & Spencer (109)

The next lowest is HIK - Hilka Pharmaceuticals at 106, so we'll have to wait to see on the rquired date.

If there had been no stocks in the automatic entry positions, then MKS would have to fall to 111 or below to be ejected from the FTSE 100.

This automatic entry/exit works in the other direction as well. Let us say EZY stay in an automatic exit position, then even if there is no stock in an automatic entry position, EZY would be replaced by the highest FTSE250 stock.

Hi All, Well MKS escaped relaxation from the FTSE 100 in June, saved by the rights issue. But it’s exit in September is looking pretty certain now perhaps to be joined with that other notable poor performer CNA. See links below:-
