Angle PLC (AGL)

Hi all

I have a small speculative stake in this company. The current market cap is about £50m (the LSE website is wrong).

They have something called Parsotix which is a method for doing biopsies to detect cancer from a blood test rather than through invasive means and this is forecast to be a huge market in the future. I don't know anything about the science behind it but apparantly Parsotix captures circulating tumour cells (CTC's).

There has been an endless stream of good news out of the company, successful trials and research collaborations with respected institutions and the like.

They recently raised £15m in a subscription which was well supported by institutions and now have enough cash to last the next couple of years.

Anyway they look worth a speculative punt to me based on the potential market and the good news that has been coming out of the company in recent times.

They are popular on ADVFN for people who are put off by that kind of thing but i'm not.

Anyone else follow this company?

Lester

Well my post on this company didn't generate much interest but there is a small article in the Times this morning that's worth a read.

I certainly won't be selling into any spike, I think this is worth hanging on to. Of course it could all go wrong but then I only have a small investment here.

An pleasing RNS from this company this afternoon and a mention in the press.

I still believe this is a very interesting little company which appears to be making real headway, but there doesn't seem to be much interest here.

Well, given that it's never made a profit and the number of shares in issue has doubled in the past few years (no doubt due to ongoing equity issuance through running out of funds?), I guess it's not that surprising no-one is interested :-)

All I know is that my investment returns have greatly improved since I avoided jam tomorrow type companies 10 years ago. Good luck with it though.

All the best, Si

FWIW I only have around 5% of my funds in blue sky stocks and then a limited number, the bulk of my investments are what I would call traditional value stocks, albeit usually small caps, with low debt/net cash and profitable.

I tend to look for opportunities where the company is close to commercialisation and there is an apparent disconnect between the price and the potential market size. In Angle's case they are close to finding out one way or another whether they will get FDA approval for Parsotix in breast cancer, the company has the funding for the next couple of years and much of the good news is coming out of respected institutions rather than the company itself and being published in peer reviewed journals. I'm not naive, it could all come to nothing but I'm not going to complain about an 80% rise on the day.

I also recently bought a few FUM, which admittedly has been a disappointer for years, but they are now in phase three trials for the ED treatment and there is virtually no premium to cash. Once again it's a large potential market. Either way I won't have to wait forever to find out if it's going to be a success.

Finally I also have a few TRT, which again has achieved virtually nothing in 20 years. Once again I bought once the share price had collapsed to around the level of net assets. My reasoning there is that they either make a success of the business (which doesn't seem particularly likely) with the cash they have remaining or they sell the IP and return the cash to shareholders and the IP has been proven to have value from a previous disposal. The register now contains a couple of shrewdies including Chris Mills and I believe these people will run out of patience with fundraising after fundraising only to watch the cash disappear so I expect action there too in the not too distant future.
