Re: Qatar World Cup
Tempting though it is to indulge in...what's the word? Oh yes, Schadenfreude, perhaps the more interesting one is a stat that came up in the early game today - there's been as many (0-0?) draws in the first 9 games as there were in 100+ games of the last WC and Euros put together.

Re: Qatar World Cup
A VPN might help for the US and you can watch every game going. Plus good viewing times for you.

Good tip
mind you, the kick-off times in the UK are all ok
however in Qatar the evening game isn't finishing until almost midnight,
don't forget you have to factor in the additional 10-15 minutes per games now.

Many are feeling acute isolation watching this year's event.
An open letter questioning the country's continued zero-Covid policies and asking if China was "on the same planet" as Qatar quickly spread on mobile messenger WeChat on Tuesday, before being censored.
Comments on the Twitter-like Weibo social network are rife from viewers who speak about how watching this year's matches is making them feel divided from the rest of the world.
Some speak of their perception that it is "weird" to see hundreds of thousands of people gathering, without wearing masks or needing to show evidence of a recent Covid-19 test. "There are no separate seats so people can maintain social distance, and there is nobody dressed in white and blue [medical] garb on the sidelines. This planet has become really divided."

All lies and illusions from the capitalist pigs solely to spread disharmony throughout our homeland.
BTW France look a bit tasty.

Another vote for hopeless. Doesn’t matter for football but how is it possible that the Hub does not offer subtitles?

I've only just noticed the seats for the posh people.... not just well-padded seats, but proper big armchairs

Re: Qatar World Cup
Ronaldo....no, not that one.
First off, love him or hate him, absolute congrats to Ronaldo for doing what no other has done, score in 5 world cups. Not to mention the most international goals of all time.
Great timing and simply fantastic and not to be missed documentary showing the sensational skills of(the other) Ronaldo from Brazil and what he had to go through. Very rarely talked about these days, as it's always the same, Maradona, Messi, and Ronaldo from Portugal and Man U(twice but now departed).
How many of you remember him playing upfront with Ronaldinho and Rivaldo? Well worth the time watching this.

I remember it well; beautiful!
I also think it's a testament to the power of football that Ronaldinho is remembered for "lobbing Seamen from outside the box" and not his ability to beat Princess Anne at eating an apple though a letterbox

Back in the noughties among my work football colleagues, we called them Proper Ronaldo and Pretty Ronaldo

Re: Qatar World Cup
Bale looking like someone woefully short of being match fit. All the injuries and disputes with RM taking their toll.
He's been one of my favourite players over the last 15 years or so, hard to see this not being the end.

They must be from Falkirk and good friends or family with Nicola Sturgeon
