Oh dear!

Under company law, companies have to submit their accounts within nine months of the end of their accounting year. For CPFC 2010 limited this deadline was 31 March 2017, and they failed to do this. Kieran Maguire, lecturer in football finance at the University of Liverpool is reported as having said.

Last year’s news then.

Suspect that's a typo, which should have read 2016, not 2010. But heck, anything is possible at BBC News. I'm still chuckling about the report that said that somebody had fallen off a Normandy ferry into the Channel Tunnel. ;)

The 2010 is fine as it is in their name at Companies House. The 2017 isn’t. Not that it matters but seeing a sports report, purporting to be financially literate at the same time, amused me. Then there’s the earlier mention of the 2016-17 tax year. What’s that supposed to mean in context?

No, because either Maguire or the bbc are wrong. It is the June 2017 accounts that are late, they were due by 31 March 2018.

The dissolution notice was duly served yesterday.

There are other reasons why they may not have been lodged in time, including that Companies House are often useless.

Yes, I know, that's why I highlighted the erroneous 31 March 2017 on Saturday, having checked at https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07206409, and started with Oh dear!

The First Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off was available when I first posted, albeit dated 5 June 2018. That's how the Beeb knew A notice for compulsory strike-off will be sent to the Premier League club on Tuesday , so at least they got that part correct.

My Last year’s news then. was meant as a joke. Even with a smiley I can see how it might have been misinterpreted.

OIC. Perils of the written word.

I had some accounts rejected by CH a year or so ago, a process that takes them at least two weeks. They were rejected for not having a specific disclosure in them. The disclosure was in fact there but the reviewer had missed it. I resubmitted, with a big note on the cover showing where the disclosure was. They rejected them again, for another issue, that was a bit further on in the document. This time it was an issue with the formatting, which although, yes, it was wrong, was the same format that we had used (and had been accepted)for the previous three years. I resubmitted. Then they rejected them again, this time because I hadn't submitted the correct document bundle alongside them. I noted that in fact I had, but that they had lost them.

By this time nearly two months had passed.

Didn't get as far as a Gazette notice though.
