This bat would fall foul of Law 5.3.2 The blade shall consist solely of wood
and under 5.4 Protection and repair;
5.4.2.2 The only material permitted for any insertion is wood with minimal essential adhesives.
Hence Dennis Lillee's famous aluminium bat never got off the ground.

Lillee's bat was legal at the time he used it - however the alws were changed very shortly after that, clearly to prevent such a thing happening again.
Allegedly his own skipper told him to use a normal bat cops his aluminum one didn't hit the ball as effectively. Allegedly.
