Champions League/Premier League
As a West Ham fan, I guess I won’t have many chances to take the mickey out of Spurs, so I’ll make the most of it now.

When I posted my OP above, the score was 2-4, which I thought was an embarrassing score at home.
Obviously we all know now that it ended 2-7, a new record for Spurs.

Re: Champions League/Premier League
In a couple of years Spurs will have reverted to their usual mid-table mediocrity and will playing in a half empty stadium.
They’ve had their best few years in the past 50 years (and still didn’t win anything), got carried away and splashed £1bn building the nicest house in the worst street.
‘61, never again.

Whilst I enjoy my rare opportunities to take the Mickey out of Spurs, the above statement is such rubbish that even I feel the need to stick up for them.
Your post on Spurs is almost as accurate as your posts on Brexit so at least you’re consistent.

OK, that’s fairly easy.
When was the last time that Spurs finished the league mid table or played to a half empty stadium?

Spurs’ average league position is 9th over the past 50 years. For years they managed to scrape together home crowds in the 35k area (WHL not always at capacity) so I think it’s entirely possible they won’t come close to filling their new 62k capacity ground with full fare customers. Already they have to offer one of the cheapest London premier league tickets to fill the place.
English football’s in a massive boom. It may not last for ever and in that case the weaker brands will suffer disproportionately.
As an aside, given your views on Brexit and the Irons, are you Alf Garnett in disguise?

If you look at their long-term record then 1961 can be seen as an aberration. They only ever won the top tier one other time.
OK, they've won the FA Cup a few times, but that isn't such a big deal these days. In Europe their trophies have been limited to the various second tier UEFA competitions.
They are not football royalty. Although from a West Ham perspective it might sometimes feel that they are. They probably peaked a few years ago when they finished above all the rest of the "top six" but then got pipped by Leicester. That's gotta hurt.

If Spurs are ever strapped for cash in future, they can always rent some of the spare room they have in their trophy cabinet to one of their near neighbours.

Ha ha ha ha. When Brexit happens, I will hold you to quoting any economic figures as an average over the last 50 years.

If Brexit happens, I think quoting economic figures is the last thing any of us will want to do.
JRM told us that it would take another 50 years to feel the benefits of Brexit. Maybe Spurs or West Ham will have won the league again by then.

Alright, fair enough. Midnight typing.
I should have said “Maybe Spurs or West Ham will have won the league again or for the first time respectively by then.”

Re: Champions League/Premier League
Well I follow CPFC who play in an extended shed in a crappy bit of South London. Never won anything but for a 2nd Div title.
I'm in no position to take the p155 out of other clubs for lack of success. Instead I hate Charlton and Brighton. Having a crap team to follow is its own kind of masochistic fun.

Palace doing well this season.
4 generations of my family in N5 so I had no choice who to follow. Lucky for me that they’re a good club!

I lived for a while in the 1970s on Conewood Street, which you will doubtless know is a short street that runs between Blackstock Road and the former [expletive deleted] ground. Match days were always lively there.
Although most of my life I've lived a couple of miles north of there. So in theory I should be torn between [expletive deleted] and Spurs. In practice I cannot bring myself to support any London club. If I had to, it would probably be Brentford
