Sad news today of the death of Peter Alliss, who's been commentating on Golf for the BBC for as long as I can remember -

It's funny how the passing of people who we clearly don't know, and yet who have managed to provide such a regular drum-beat to our own lives, can sometimes feel very important...

Yes he'll be missed for being a character and a natural behind the microphone.
Not too sad, he made 89 despite being overweight for most of his latter years.
Also I think he'd agree, he'd had rather a good life.
