Genuine question: How on earth are they surviving?

The Directors negotiating with interested parties a delay of payment I would guess.

As regards the players are they furlonged or not?

It is difficult and cash flow is reliant upon grants, and in the main friendly owners.

Directors have a legal duty not to continue operating when bankrupt, in the same way as any other business. With sufficient cash flow, and an expectation that revenue streams will improve next season, this obligation is being met despite being loss making currently.

Meetings are taking place this week between DCMS and bodies at various levels in the pyramid. It is entirely possible we will soon be in the situation of some (non) leagues deciding to end the season. It is possible if the next round of financial support comes in the form of loans and not grants, some league clubs will be at the precipice and face turning down loans, stopping playing, but facing sanctions for doing so.

League clubs players aren't furloughed, but squads are smaller and paid less. With games more frequent and squads smaller it is more difficult to put out fully competitive teams due to injuries and exhaustion. The number of youth players being given first team opportunities is testament to that.

Football is in a difficult position generally, being potentially better supported by the authorities than other businesses, and certainly other sports. That doesn't stand up to the principle of fairness in many people's eyes.

Only after they run a full 220 yards Stan. ;)

I suspect very few are furloughed. With flexi-furlough now it is possible to furlough those with long term injuries etc. but even then, if using in-house medical facilities for treatment and physio, that might not meet the spirit/letter of the scheme. (We have just 1 player currently furloughed).

More players than usual went out of contract before the start of the season that weren't either rolled over or employed elsewhere at other clubs.
