folloing on from my quesry earlir about gardens etc to visit in east wilts and west berks we ended up here

https://www.thewalledgardenatmells.co.uk

The walled garden at Mells... small, but lovely. Simple cafe etc to sit in the sun and enjoy the garden.

Its quite diffuclt I found to google something similar elsewhere.!

So - DAK of any similar small gardens (not necessarily walled, not necessarily with a cafe :-), not part of some huge estate - a place in its ownb right etc?

somerset/Dorset/Wilts, hants, Oxon, Berks/Glos in partoicular, but west wales is a go to, as is the banbury area (tho that's Oxon anyway :-)

Abbotsbury in Dorset is an excellent place to visit for many reasons, not least of which is this:

It is more or less next to the more famous swannery.

http://www.opengardens.co.uk/index.php has lots of community garden openings, sometimes 20+ gardens in a village open for charity.

https://www.historichouses.org/ has lots of stately home gardens

Heale has lovely water channels, https://www.healegarden.co.uk/
and I'm a huge fan of the Garden at Miserden, https://www.historichouses.org/house/th ... den/visit/

If you can stretch to West Sussex, West Dean https://www.westdean.org.uk/gardens has the happiest plants in Britain

This Sunday, Frampton-on-Severn in Gloucs (sometimes under Severn :( ) has its open gardens.
Frampton has the longest village green in England.
https://opengardens.co.uk/open_gardens.php?id=545

Also a small classic car show on the green. We'll be there.

If you want a chance to eat next to the garden, Le Manoir would fit the bill!!

We're a couple of weekends away from the London Square Open Gardens Weekend (11-12 June) which is always fun - there's all sorts of amazing gardens tucked away around London, from the classic garden squares to office-top ones and apothecary ones, plus a whole load of weird community ones, even (in times past at least) a ballot to go to the garden at No 10 (wine not included). Well worth doing if you've not been before.

As it's coming up shortly it's worth noting for those near London that the London Open Squares weekend is 11 & 12 June this year.

There are some splendid roof top gardens that are open only on that weekend too.

See:

I went to Superbloom today. They've planted the moat of the Tower of London with wild flowers and created a slide into it (not for me but fun for kids) and about a 30 minute path where you wander through the spectacle. Happily, I don't suffer from Hay Fever so it was all very pleasant for a sunny afternoon. Get tickets in advance from the Royal Palaces Site:
