Heh, I've got a Cyprus knife story too. On our return from holiday in Cyprus we forbade my 7 year-old son (of Jewish descent) from bringing home a dagger he'd bought with his pocket money. Not because we worried about security or anything, but it happened to be a WWII Nazi replica replete with swastikas!

Cue a short history lesson, then the offending item went back to the shop for a refund and complaint -- so sadly I cannot advise on how the knife-in-luggage might have turned out...
