I have an old encrypted USB stick 4gb from2008-2009. I haven't used it for a couple months but it has definitely work from Windows XP to W10 prior to perhaps latest 2 major updates.
Obviously I don't want to reformat yet, I do have a paper copy of the contents too so no major problem if I lose the files and just buy a similar modern version.
When I insert it and go to the drive and click the DTEncryptor software I get: Error DT encryptor running from unsupported USB drive. The application will now shut down.
Manual which is PDF I can access says usb 2.0 and from Vista 32 bit to W 2000 sp4 but I have used it with Windows 10 just few months ago.
Any ideas?

Ha! I tested the USB port with an old Buffalo ministation and it worked. This was FAT32.
Kingston datatraveler says FAT.
Could this be the problem?

The update to 1803 may be incompatible with this software. I don't have a Kingston DataTraveler to test, but SanDisk have a very similar data vault. That I set up on aW7 machine and encrypted a few files, that does work in Windows 10 1803.
First, try it in an actual USB2 slot if you have one.
Next, try running the Vault software in compatibility mode. Vista is one of the available compatibility modes.

Re: Kingston DataTraveler encrypted usb problem
Thanks, I did try both USB slots and ran the software under Vista and W8.
I never was comfortable with this technology so I kept a small thin notebook hidden in case of what has just happened.

Re: Kingston DataTraveler encrypted usb problem
I bought a new Kingston datatraveler locker+ G3 which is working fine.
OT: I also bought 16gb usb3.0 memory stick for other use, mainly for songs to be used in my TV. I already listen to the radio via TV. I need to test how the songs are organised when I open the TV.
