Hi,
Since I reluctantly was moved on to Windows 10 my keyboard has US settings. The web tells me go to Control Panel > Language etc.
I*'m ashamed to say I can't even find the frigging Control Panel. Searched Settings till I'm blue in the face.
I'm afraid I need idiot's level guidance..... :(

Tried that Snorvey. I find no language icon. There is a Keyboard one but I see nothing to change the language.

Click on the start button, bottom left, and type language and select either Edit language and keyboard options or Region & languages settings. Both take you to the latter.

Arghhhh .... In both of these panels I am not given the option to change "English USA" option. I click on the V and there are no options.

I'll keep trying, blood pressure could be a problem....

You can only change to languages you have installed. Click Add a language and type/select English (United Kingdom).

There's a wealth of helpful advice regarding keyboard languages and locales in this recent thread.

Hope it helps,

Not necessarily your fault at all: MSFT has deliberately made it harder to find in order to get people to use Settings (gear-wheel symbol) on the LHS of the new Metro (tablet-style) interface. 'Settings' contains some but not all of the familiar Control Panel settings.

I tend to have all those useful but sometimes hard to find MS settings/utility apps pinned to my quick launch bar. If you make it 'small' and remove the large search bar you can fit loads on. And search itself is pretty good for many hard to find settings.

With each new version of Windows 10 more of the control panel functions are to be found in the Settings app. Some of these remain duplicated in control panel, while others get removed. Adding a language, or adding a Keyboard to use with a language is one that I feel is better laid out and easier to use in Settings than it is in control panel - once you get used to new 'look and feel' of the Settings app. You can also pin any page in Settings to the Start menu by right-clicking on its name in the list to the left of the Settings app.

If you really can't wean yourself from the control panel, then add a new shortcut to your desktop for...

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Name the shortcut as its official name of 'All Tasks' (or its unofficial name of 'God Mode').

I posted recently about having the same problem on my wife's computer. Seemed to be something to do with the latest monthly update for Win 10 - UK English had disappeared entirely from the computer, and it was a huge faff to install an additional language set alongside US English and then to delete US English, which was swamping everything.

Other Fools have suggested that it was because my wife's copy of Win 10 was "naturally" a US edition, so that it had reverted to its origins. Or something like that. Will try to find my msg. Anyway, chin up, it can be done.

Or alternatively, to get a desktop icon for the more familiar (and less overwhelming) All Control Panel Items go to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Desktop Icon Settings and tick Control Panel
