Hi
After laptop died I got a new one - not that keen on it, but hey ho.
I got the Office 2010 product key from my old laptop, registered to me, and am trying to download Office using the key from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/softwar ... e?ref=pkc#
I have two 'keys' on the document I saved, one called Product ID which is 20 digits, and one called CD Key which has 25 digits.
It doesn't work - what am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Mel

It's the 25 digit one combination of letters and numbers.
Enter the letters as capitals.
Also try from here if you have an ms account:-

Re: Office key
ta - I did that, copy-pasted it, then did it manually.
It says it's not case sensitive, but I tried both caps and lc, and neither works.

Re: Office key
Did you read the hints under “My Office 2010 key doesn’t work” (such as O for 0 etc)?:

Re: Office key
Ah, maybe it's because it is Office 2010 Professional Plus, not just basic......I'll see if I can find a downlaod for that.

Actually, there were several flavours of 'basic' - Personal, Home & Student, Home & Business. Then there was Professional and Professional Academic. A key is only valid for one particular edition.

To download the Volume licenced product from Microsoft you need to go to the Volume Licencing Service Centre and...

Re: Office key
Thank you - that doesn't work.
Grrr.
I bought it when I was an OU student, through their scheme so I think I must have had it delivered to the OU email address (which I never used for anything else at all), and as I no longer have that email address and that link needs them to have the email address registered and send a code to it, so I can't do that.
I did have the DVDs for many years, but the ex stepson nicked them and I never found them.
I just really don't want Office 365. I've downloaded Open Office for now, which is actually a bit better than it used to be.
