Amazon and post code?
When I connect to the amazon.co.uk site - not log on - it shows the first part of my Post code in the top left-hand corner. It's the same whether I use my DT or the wife's laptop. I do not allow any amazon cookies to be stored but do have a fixed IP address so are they tying this together with an earlier order or is it something else?

Your IP address is usually sufficient for that. Try a Google search for "Where am I" and see what it says...
https://www.google.com/search?q=where+am+I
Though sometimes it get's it hilariously wrong and tells you where you ISP is located instead.

The postcode comes from your default delivery address. You are not required to log in for amazon to recognise who you are. I don't know how it does this in the absence of cookies.

It doesn't work that way for me. If I haven't signed in the postcode is just three characters and is for a location about eight miles away from my true location. Of course, when I sign in it shows my name, town and full postcode.

You can say that again. Apparently, I'm in Dublin. Or Montrose. Or Edinburgh. Or Glasgow. Or (very bizarrely!), somewhere on a road from Zurich to Amsterdam.

Re: Amazon and post code?
I am apparently in Commercial Street Dundee. I am certain I am not there though so what good is this app? And what's more that is where Amazon thinks I am as well.

So am I.
Perhaps we should think of moving the LF social to there.
