weird IE + outlook.com interaction!

Win 7 Pro
IE 11 (seemingly latest version)

user uses IE11 to connect to outlook.com to access emails.

Inbox has that weird focussed/other toggle thing.

User goes to "other". Selects a few individual emails for deletion (click on radio button adjacent to them) then clicks delete.

Emails are deleted.

then the browser window totally blanks, the outlook logo is shown and the outlook inbox reappears - with the deleted emails back again.

The blanking and "re-opening" seems a tad sporadic. It won't always do it (and the emails stay deleted).

Similarly user can start to write an email, the outlook-site-goes-blank-then-reopens-again thing happens... and the quasi-draft email has disappeared and is not in drafts.

This behaviour does not occur in chrome.

I've also tested this on another system using IE11 and it doesn't have that behaviour there either.

The system demonstrating the issue shows a clean AV/malware scan.

(FWIW microsoft updates is not working - whatever option is selected for automatic updates (including none) "check for updates does nothing). Seen it before, never fixed it - given up! )

Any ideas what is going on? I can onlu surmise some previous update has broken various things. Restoring toa prvious restore point makes no difference to this outlook in IE issue.

Have you tried clearing IE's cache?

A bit of a longshot...

Have you tried 'adjusting' Cached Mode?

that adjusting cached mode thing... is that for the outlook client?

The issues im looking at are outlook via a web browser accessing a hotmail account.

as it is Ive turned off caching within IE completely and emptied the cache. I'll see if that changes anything.

I'm beginning to wonder if IE / Edge is worth bothering with - i seem tyo come across issues with it constantly, when chrome/Firefox/Opera all just "work"

Here's a list of command line switches for various Outlook versions that may or may not help.

I suggested a cache problem because it sounds very much like one from the symptoms that you describe, only a guess on my part.
