Smart plug conflicts with wi-fi
I have plugged in a smart plug wi-fi TECKIN mini plug and set it using my mobile to turn on and off a table lamp. It works correctly. BUT, I am now unable to use my Ipad as I lose the wi-fi signal. I have tried splitting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks on my router, but I am unable to get the Ipad to connect to the 5GHz network either (or to retain a connection to 2.4GHz). If I move the Ipad to another room with no smart plug, I get and keep my wifi connection in that room.
Any suggestions as to what I can do, please

WiFi Explorer Lite is very handy for finding the best channel to use, though I think you need to install it on a mac

WiFiInfoView from Nirsoft is a free WiFi scanner and runs on a PC.

But how does that help me? I might have seemed as if I knew what I was talking about with the GHz statements, but I was just following online suggestion

Infrasonic's Google search in the previous post has a long list of articles about resolving WiFi channel conflicts. Basically you want to change the channel number used by the mini-plug to one that is different from your router. The 2.5GHz channels with the least overlap are 1, 6 & 11. Whichever one the router is using, set the mini-plug to use one of the others (or vice-versa, if it is easier).
The WiFi scanners in the previous posts are an aid in choosing a channel, they tell you all the other channels in use around you and their signal strengths.

Errr...well I have no first hand experience with "smart plugs" but I thought part of the point of these gizmos was that they were on your LAN, so you could...
"REMOTE CONTROL - Even when you are not at home, you can control the power-on/off via Smart Life app, which can be free downloaded from App Store or Google Play. Easy to use and install, required a secured 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection.
VOICE CONTROL - Compatible with Amazon alexa, Google home assistant and IFTTT, control your home appliances with the smart plug by simply giving voice commands. The smart plug works with any Wi-Fi router without a separate hub or paid subscription service."

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought the mini-plug you referred to was some sort of WiFi extender. I see now that it's not, it's just another device that would connect to your hub.
Why would that interfere with your WiFi signal? That's not clear, but it could be faulty and swamping the other devices with noise on the WiFi channel being used by all.
The WiFi scanners mentioned in the previous posts will list all channels in use around you, their signal strength and the signal quality. See what they say with and without the mini-plug operating.

That Amazon link had quite a few 1* reviews, it's probably pretty 'noisy'...

Re: Smart plug conflicts with wi-fi
Many thanks for all your help. Following Breelander's comment, I have removed one of them. It caused me problems setting it up and maybe it is faulty. At the moment, I am not losing my Ipad wi-fi now, so will see how things go. Yes, the purpose of these plugs is to control lamps pugged into them when away from home via my smartphone.
