I am having a problem with II today as the website will not let me buy or sell because , as it tells me, there is a long script running. Someone will no doubt know what that means but I am sure I do not. Help please!

What browser are you currently trying to access with and have you tried a different one yet or tried from a different device (phone app as opposed to PC browser for instance?)

If it's a common problem to more than one browser or device it could well be an issue their end. Often mobile apps work when the main website doesn't (especially with the banks).

I have tried using Chrome and Explorer on my desktop. Both give the same message. I can also get in via the Ipad but it will still not let me buy or sell. Just called II and spoke to a very helpful young lady who did the deal for me at web rates so that solves my immediate problem. She asked me to send a screenshot (about which I knew nothing but I do now!) Amazing these computers!

She implied that it was probably their problem without quite saying so but I am interested to know what is meant by 'A long script is running' or words to that effect.

Possibly Javascript, which is common to a lot of 'interactive' websites.

Screenshots can be very useful for problem solving via third parties (like here) so it's worth learning how to do them on your PC, iPad etc.

ii is down for maintenance this weekend, I believe. Might that have been a factor?

I noted that and did wonder but the lady did not mention that as a possibility.

Anyway I will try again on Monday.
