When I try to open a John Lewis website, I get the following on Firefox;

You don't have permission to access "http://www.johnlewis.com/" on this server.

Reference #18.95ed655f.1654331592.232adf9a

It works fine with Microsoft Edge so not realy a problem but I would like to know why.

It's likely to be because that's an 'http' site.

Edit to add an 's', so its https://www.johnlewis.com and you should be good.

Which version of FF?

The defaults on FF are going towards more and more draconian anti tracking/fingerprinting settings to improve the privacy control.
One of the downsides of that is it will break more and more websites.
What happens if you allow list the JL site in FF?
