Camera click sound?

My laptop on Windows 10 occasionally makes a click sound like an old fashioned camera shutter.

When I click the "Camera" myself, it is not quite the same sound.

Why would this laptop be making a strange click like this please?

Don't know but consider that someone might be using the webcam to take pictures.

Go to "change system sounds" in the control panel. Not only can you listen to a sample of each sound. You can see what they all relate to, and hence, what each sound means.

My laptop on Windows 10 occasionally makes a click sound like an old fashioned camera shutter.

For a long time I was convinced this was actually the heads on the hard drive making a physical sound as they moved, as it most often coincided with moving between folders in File Explorer. I've been hearing this since Windows 7 and still have it in 10. Turns out it's 'Windows Navigation Start.wav' - the default System sound for 'File Explorer > Start Navigation'.

In the Control Panel "Sounds" I had "No Sounds" enabled.

I tested the windows navigation sound and that is just a small click unlike the sound I have asked about.

I have also just disabled the laptop camera. so will await developments.
