I'm planning to slab a small area of around 6 sq m where we keep our garden dustbins, and I'm wondering what sort of base to put under the slabs? TBH, my usual 15cm of rubble/concrete seems a bit excessive for an area which is not ever going to be carrying more than half a tonne, fairly evenly distributed. (No motorbikes or suchlike ) And it will be going down onto clay ground that has been hard-compacted.
So what do you reckon? Surely 5cm of sand/cement/aggregate concrete would be enough by the time the 4cm thick slabs had gone down on it as well? And has anybody tried Blue Circle Slablayer? (https://www.wickes.co.uk/Blue-Circle-Re ... g/p/153707)
