i think your assessment is correct, it looks like a thin blade behind the trim should pop it off. I'm particularly interested as I have one that looks identical, but have no idea who made it. I've had to replace the original filters with generic pads. Would you care to share what you know about it, and where you found the parts list?

If the front trim panel is difficult to remove then heating with a hair dryer may help soften any adhesive.

Good luck, and go carefully with the soldering iron. I tried to fix my daughter's extractor switch by swapping out a dead button with one that wasn't being used, and all I did was melt the wafer-thin plastic strips that hooked it up to the rest of the unit. I suppose they must assemble them in a solder bath?
A new switch was available, but it was going to cost me around £75, as I recall; OTOH, an entire new extractor unit was only £85. No brainer.

Is this the bit that's in the loft? I may do some organising and tidying up re insulation and satellite cables in the loft this summer and might take a look at this beast at the same time.

FredBloggs wrote:Thanks, I "think" they are spade connectors on to the switch on a Neff. But a good idea to check, I agree. The switch is GBP 28 delivered from Neff and a new unit retails at GBP 499. Hence the repair.
Aaah. You have a classier kitchen, then. No further questions.
