Can't wait to get stuck in! On a slope, the bottom retaining shallow wall made of bricks is without weep holes, all the upper ones are of local stone, good as new, with the weep holes. I will repoint the front of house footpath crazy paving too. Tomorrow morning I shall start chipping away with a chisel.

Re: Retaining wall re-pointing
Why not drill through at the bottom of the brick wall, a number of times, and insert lengths of plastic, or other material, pipe to allow drainage?
Or am I missing something?

That's the initial plan, depending on the possible brick structure behind the outer face, so you're not missing anything, I'm only starting this project so hold your horses.
Perhaps not evident from the photo but the wall is slightly leaning outwards at the top, water-logged I suspect.

I did wonder if it was leaning, or if it was camera angle.
And the bricks at the bottom do look water logged.
Good luck.

Yeah, you're right, I'll drill some holes now and make it look tidy, and re-visit the task later, a nice summer job for later.
I'll post some photos anyway, no need to make it super tidy but hey, nay bother.
