I've had a DEVIreg 550 for about ten years and it seems to be past its best, and not functioning properly. I'm planning to replace it with a DEVIreg Touch.
Anyone with any experience of a 550 becoming unreliable, or with using a DEVIreg Touch?

I'm not sure if you're aware, but there are sellers on Ebay that you can post your faulty unit to, and within a short time they'll post it back repaired.
I've no connection, and can't vouch for this seller, but just include the following link as an example of this service in case the option might suit you -

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that option but I think I prefer a new unit rather than a repaired one in this instance.
