That option looks to be cheaper via Screwfix (£16 vs £25) -
https://www.screwfix.com/p/master-lock-5-key-combination-key-safe/77908
Screwfix also have some other options available, one of which is classed as 'reinforced', if that's important to the OP -

The full Key Safe range at Screwfix -

Given that both the Argos and the Screwfix website have user-reviews available for all the options they sell, it might be worth spending a bit of time reading through some of those for some idea on benefits of particular boxes etc.

Anything like this?

Something like this is less likely to void the insurance,

Note that Screwfix reviews are, by default, high to low. I normally change this to low to high and read the bad ones first.

These are used by many of the residents in my mum's complex, there are a few things to consider....
Mount it around the side, so it isn't obvious which door it relates 2.
Tell the care provider where it is and which of the 3 on the wall is the one they need.
Resist the temptation to use the same code as mum uses for her safe or debit card.

Or where the property has a burglar alarm, the code for said alarm...
And for that matter, don't tag the keys with the burglar alarm code either.

As to the first link my empathic response is: NO, NO, NO!Itsallaguess wrote:Snorvey wrote:

When I arrived at my rental flat a couple of years ago there were two of these Masterlock key safes on the wall outside the flat.
It took me a quick youtube tutorial, a can of tuna, a pair of scissors, and about 15 minutes of practice to crack open the first one and 25s to open the second. Therein was a key to my flat.
These designs are USELESS. Any self-respecting burglar will be able to get in within 30s.
I do use mine occasionally but with an added level of security (anonymous key within that gains access to a space, wherein a further key is hidden).
Regards,
Chris

Re: Keysafe
If this is for access to the property of an elderly relative for example, take a look at relevant charities such as age UK, or the bobby scheme with the blue lamp trust. They can recommend and install quality keysafes often at significantly subsidised costs.

I have a moral dilemma. Do I tell the old dear below that pretty much any criminal could accost her during the night by extracting her key from her Masterlock keysafe; or do I, as I am currently doing, keep mum and not worry her?JuanDB wrote:If this is for access to the property of an elderly relative for example, take a look at relevant charities such as age UK, or the bobby scheme with the blue lamp trust. Their cheaper padlocks are quite pickable too. Ten locks in under two minutes:

Hide the zip ties, bamboo sticks and cat food cans,

With most things, cheapest tends to be lowest quality.

You could warn anyone to check their home insurance policy. Many will resist claims if access is obtained by deception or there is no evidence of forced entry. Some may accept police approved key safes.
Here's some random commentary http://www.keysafeman.co.uk/key-safes/supra-c500. I haven't verified any of the content.
