Window handle broken in closed position
On my double glassed windows I have these handles https://www.handlesandhinges.co.uk/troj ... -in-white/
One of them the button is depressed and not springing out, and the handle won't turn, so I thought I'd replace it with the spare that I have.
Only trouble is, as the handle won't turn, I cant get at 2 of the screws that hold it onto the window frame.
Other than using a crowbar to rip it off, andbody got any ideas how I might shift it?

Re: Window handle broken in closed position
I have precisely those handles on my windows as well. When I had to replace one a year or two ago I used Handlestore Ltd. They had the biggest selection I have ever seen and more to the point, a very helpful helpline by telephone. I think if I were you I would give them a call. I always think in situations like yours that this must have happened before and there will be a solution.

Re: Window handle broken in closed position
Have a look at a working one.
If the button operates a flap that drops into a recess below the handle, you might be able to ease the flap up with thin rigid material. I would use a 30 thou feeler gauge.
Otherwise, cut off the handle with a hack saw.

Re: Window handle broken in closed position
One of my properties was broken into through a DG window. They smashed a fanlight then reached in and hit the window handle lock of the casement with a hammer. It broke and they opened the window. The handles were die cast and very brittle.
I'm not suggesting you try this, the solution in the clip is much more elegant.

It worked, though with the handle being on a fan light, the bit I needed to poke on the top and a wash hand basin between me and it, together with my innate clumsiness, it wasn't quite that simple.
At least I remembered to put the plug in the sink before working over it, so the 2 screws I dropped didn't go down it

Well done with the plug. I've lost count the number of times I've ignored that simple action.....and paid the price.
