Replacement Kitchen Cabinet Doors Recommendations

We need (ie my wife wants) to replace the doors in our utility room because the window faces South and they’ve faded quite a bit. The units themselves are Howdens’ and although cheapish seem to be pretty bulletproof still after 12 years. ‘We’ don’t like Howdens’ current range. I’m sure lots of Fools have done this so I’m looking for any recommendations for online sellers. Also what are the pros/cons of the various finishes available (vinyl wrap, acrylic etc.).

I have seen amazing refurbishment of solid wood kitchen doors with a skilled professional respray done by a local carpentry firm. Went from yuk c1980 honey-oak colour to flawless 21st century space-age metallic finish. Add updated handles and Bobs your uncle.

Dunno if it might be an option for you? Cost me about £400 all in.

Not an option for my non-wooden doors, replacements required.

We just re-furbished our kitchen, but budget constraints meant we has to re-use the existing bits as much as possible. The doors were howdens shaker style - cream vinyl over mdf. We stripped the vinyl off using a heat gun, painted them stiffkey blue and bought brass handles. Look great now, although it took many coats before my wife was happy with the finish and even now you can see they are not going to be as splash proof as you might want. We did also give them a top-coat of some sort of sealant product which seemed to help.

However - it was a lot of work!!
