In this country and if built recently.
A lot of my neighbours in my first house had the loo off the back of the kitchen. Houses built c1900, kitchen added c1920, bathrooms added between then and 1950s as cottages got sold off.
Some, like mine, had the kitchen extended upwards rather than out, so the bathroom was upstairs.

Building Regs used to require 2 doors between and I've had to lose space to a mini-lobby to achieve that in years gone by.
However, some time around the turn of the century the regs changed and I was subsequently able to slap a WC with hand-basin directly off a kitchen. One small (but beautifully-formed) barn conversion was so open-plan that the door to the bathroom was the only internal door.
Cheers!

Eeeurgh. Just eeeurgh.
Clue to the nationality is in the round power sockets, I presume? So what'll it be this morning, e-coli or e-lectrocution?
Anyway, it's put me right off my breakfast. Gee, thanks.

No way! - though on second thoughts, might have been East Germany.

Everything about that place is shouting "ENGLAND" at me except for those socket outlets. Maybe the kettle was brought back to our fair isle from afar and a mini extension lead along with it?PinkDalek wrote:csearle wrote:Well spotted. I am going with Germany. I can't make out what is printed on the "lid" nor any of the other kitchen items. The coffee jar looks familiar but may be sold around the world anyway.
I only said Denmark in view of the blue and white tile (?) but that might be a souvenir and/or the other blue and white might be Chinese imports.
Can anyone read the manufacturer of the oven (?) to the left?
Further research finds mention of Gefest - Belarus brand here https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/crz1br/when_youre_really_really_tight_on_space/ and someone else (Poglosaurus) states Paris, seemingly with authority. Maybe the same person who posted the image or I'm taking it out of context.
The possible German connection is mentioned there as well, as in "Shitchen".

Another comment in the thread says "Russia, actually".
Also supported by this https://englishrussia.com/2019/08/18/ki ... -a-secret/ And the writing on the underside of the worktop looks cyrillic.
EDIT: the microwave is Midea brand, seems to be sold in lots of countries (including Russia).
Scott.

Yes, thanks, I saw that comment after posting and the reference to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gzhel.
For some reason the imgur image had been cropped, such that the microwave wasn't visible. Was that image uploaded to imgur by Itsallaguess? If so, perhaps Itsa could say where he found the "original".

The shape of the instant coffee jar and top along with the shape of the golden band on the label very strongly suggests 'Jacobs' - a Jacobs Douwe Egberts brand and, yes, it's sold around the world (though not always in that jar) in more countries than are listed here:
