Glue/cement- heat resistant for cookware
Can anyone recommend a suitable heat resistant glue/cement to fix the slightly wobbly handle of a frying pan?
It doesn't need to support the weight, just gap fill (between handle and body of pan, so hot) and stop the rotation

Presumably you can't reduce the wobble by tightening a screw in the end of the handle? I think I would be looking for something automotive - you shouldn't need exhaust sealant, but something like a gasket material made for sumps/heads which should stand the temperature. Stuff I've used is a few pounds a tube (made by Loctite) and is great quality, but might be more than the pan's worth...

Try Sugru - I swear by the stuff (no connection)

Good to 180C. Should be ok if no direct flame contact.

Re: Glue/cement- heat resistant for cookware
I did tighten the screw in the handle which helped, but there's still a bit of rotation. It's not really a problem (yet), it just annoys me
It's a reasonably expensive Salter diamond tech jobbie
I will see what's available in the Loctite range next time I'm in Reading.
As the joint is against the pan body, I think I'd probably exceed the 180C limit for Sugru, particularly if I'm doing a steak...

Quick bit of welding? Couple of quick tack welds and the handle will be good for life. Pan coating may get a bit scorched but better that than having the handle fail and suffering third degree burns from hot liquid within?

No, seriously. We originally bought it for an oven door, but it's proved useful for all sorts of other hot spots. The blurb says it's good for 572 F (300 C), which ought to cover a frying pan handle - it claims that conventional epoxy glues like Araldite max out at 65 C, or 140 C for the higher temp versions.
Sticks to glass and steel very well, but doesn't like copper. (So what glue does?)

I was just about to suggest oven door gasket sealant and had found an amazon link. Like bungeejumper I found it has other uses once you have a tube.

I should think the stuff used to stick tiles onto the space shuttle heat shield will work.

Yeah - but the price . . .
It's out of this world!
