FWIW I pulled the front off a freezer drawer out of our wall cavity a week or so ago. You do wonder.

A few years ago we had a visit from whoever was running around the houses doing free installs of cavity insulation.

Inspection holes are drilled and a camera inserted to see if there's anything inside.

On the extension, built by the previous owner, among some of the other surprises he conferred on us, he's lined the cavity with bubble wrap.

That "bubble wrap" was used years ago and it has insulating properties. If I recall correctly Barratt used it too.

Take care

Hah! My friends didn't have that problem. Their house had been built, bit by bit, over a period of maybe thirty years, by an old rascal (sadly RIP) who had been a noted collector of scrap stuff, including any building materials that came to hand. (No planning, no building regs, no questions asked, no money back, no VAT. :| )

Upon making some updates, they discovered that the old'un had economised on the need for costly wall ties. Instead, hundreds of knives, forks and spoons had been lovingly bent into shape for their new purpose. Give that man a recycling award. :)

Bloomin' trap is overflowing again. At my wits end with this.

Waiting for the current level to go down before having a look, not helped by the Mrs putting the washing machine on.

If it goes down and i see no obvious blockage, it means it must be between my trap and the main sewer (trap is almost at the boundry of the property).

Is it my responsibility to fix?

If anyone is interested.....

....I am going to garrotte a teenager.

Called Scottish Water, who kindly sent some chap round, who stuck a hook down and fished out...

....another set of wet wipes. Plunged the remaining brown gravy away.

Need to buy a set of drain rods.

I think that piano wire is the usual material for a garrotte.
