The programmable thermostats I have were purchased from Conrad electrical in Germany, for about 10 Euros each. Over 5 years ago, when I was on holiday there.
They work fine for rooms where I only need heating at certain times of the day.
Also, when I go on holiday, I can programme in a lower temperature until a certain date, so the room is at (say) 12C until the day before I return.

I'm very pleased with these. I'm wary of paying too much, as if the product fails after 2~3 years, I'm not going to get a payback on the investment.
These were both cheap and have so far done 5 years without problems, so I have my payback.

Unfortunately, Conrad don't stock the same product now. They are almost identical to these, at a somewhat higher price: https://www.toolstation.com/digital-rad ... tat/p95334
